Bad news...I'm getting sick!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to give you a quick update...

As you know, I've been working overtime to keep making art keeping auctions going simultaneously - and it's catching up with me!

Admittedly, I'm a huge perfectionist and VERY hard on myself, so what's going on is probably self-induced!

I'm REALLY overbooked with all that comes with panty-selling, trying to fill orders, update auctions, reply to emails, edit photos, write blog posts, etc. etc. etc.

In addition to now overdue freelance projects, delayed collective meetings, finishing an artist's book I started MONTHS ago, running a gallery, and everything else that comes with art-making!

(gallery installation in the background, performance artist in in the foreground)

Right now, I've got another all-night ahead of me and I'm EXHAUSTED! I stayed up all night two days, then slept 14 hours.

As the NEW director of my gallery, it's my job to compile the rent and get it to our landlord in time. And, apparently, make sure the bills are paid, internet is running, respond to artist queries, clean the space and rent out vacant room. Which, obviously, is too much for one person to handle.

And then my phone broke.

And I missed out on calling Illinois human services, my doctor, the pharmacy (yes, like many people, I take medication), the post office, the electric company, Panasonic (my new "tough"book isn't "tough" enough to withstand typing at 90 w.p.m.), the internet company, and my client waiting on a custom PowerPoint presentation, and, of course, my landlord!

Right now, I'm critiquing my friend's play I promised I'd help with months ago...and just started feeling a little bit off...

(About as "off" as this photo I took a while ago!)

I'm nauseous, sweaty, dizzy, achy - you know that "something's wrong" feeling you get before the flu hits?

Yeah, that's it.

I think I'm overstressed!

(Yeah, I know I'm re-using photos...but do you really want to see me with my hair sticking everywhere and my face flushed - and not in a good way?)

I'm hoping it'll go away and I'll start feeling better soon! But be forewarned, if I disappear for a while, it's probably flu-related. And not that I'm ignoring you!

And I might need to slow it down just a bit with the panty/sock sales to prevent complete and total meltdown!

I mean, I haven't even opened opened my new copy of Dream Weaver - I could be learning CSS right now! And completely blowing your mind! And I haven't cleaned my room or organized my panty/sock supply in weeks! There's probably tons of stuff in there I don't even remember!

A little break might be in everyone's best interest!

Of course, panty and sock shopping, wearing and selling is pretty addictive in itself...maybe I just need to pace myself...

After a little bed rest, of course!

Cross your fingers and hope for a speedy recovery!

Kammi's Internet Tendency

Again, I must draw you attention to my blog.

Doesn't it look so much better?!

Although I probably should've been focusing on money-making scheme instead of fiddling with blogger gadgets...yowza!

Shall I draw you attention to the clean new layout? The added photos? Definitely worth several hours of fooling around if you ask me! (and don't tell me I should've been doing other kinds of fooling around...time for that later! It's the weekend!)

Here's a favorite that didn't make the cut -

Readers, that is a rarity! You see, I have a hard time getting on my knees (yes, yes, another joke opportunity, here) due to having knee surgery about two years ago. The winters in Chicago are so nasty I actually shattered my right leg when I fell on some ice! Two surgeries later, I now have a titanium rod in my leg! Thankfully, the scars are barely visible and don't appear in photos -

You'll note that I decided to re-do the links list, as it was getting out of control. I have now divided it into three portions.

A.) Random fun stuff I've found on the internet. Since I don't have all my bookmarks from my old computer yet, expect lots of growth. I do have inherent knowledge of many odd and unusual places on the web, such as "Aspic and other Delights," where you can amuse yourself with the idea of eating foods such as these -

Except for some reason they have a picture of fried pies on there. Fried Pies are, in fact, delicious.

B) I also have my "Wealth of Information" section, which includes various resources for education material, particularly for artists - I highly recommend the Internet Archive, where I found all the footage for the film piece I made last week.

(this is an amazing PSA (public service announcement from the 70's that somehow aims to make venereal disease attractive)

The third section are links to independent boutiques - shopping links! Sometimes owned by my friends! I highly endorse supporting independent businesses rather than, say, Wal-Mart, whenever possible, when shopping for yourself or a special lady (particularly if that lady is Kammi!) My friend Anne was recently named Chicago's "designer of the year," yet had to close down her boutique as she couldn't compete with big business. Luckily, she has an online store, where you can find her handmade clothing -

FYI - I own this skirt!

What I do not own, however, are these boots. And I will crawl in a puddle of lust until I own them. I am obsessed with these boots ever since I saw them online a few hours ago! I must have them! They're offered by Trashy Diva in New Orleans and they are practically perfect in every way!

How amazing would these boots look with this dress?
I'm actually about to call my mother in New Orleans and beg her to go to the store and ask if they have layaway!

Speaking of New Orleans, I'm waiting on Joelle, who's going back South Sunday, sob, sob, to come over and take more photos of me in this white, bikini-print panties -
The original plan was to take photos of them by my friend Ava's pool - and jump in the water to get them wet, thus see-through! But, looking over the balcony, the pool was crammed with kids, and there was no way we'd get away with it!

We do have an alternative, of course...

SHOWER SHOTS!

Expect them later today!

My newest panty auction

Since I love wearing and selling panties, I thought it's be pretty silly not to mention my latest endeavors on my blog!

These are the panties I'm currently offering at auction -

There are more photos on my my ebanned auction - my seller id is kammikaze.

Hey! I've got to self-promote somehow!

My Very First Blog Post!

Hi! I'm Kammi!

Welcome to my NEW blog! Since I love writing and taking pictures, I decided to try my hand at a website. I'm not too skilled at html (yet!) so I went with a blog, for now. Awesomely, I have a friend who's great at webdesign, so I'm hoping for an elaborate, bells-and-whistles website in the future. But I've always kept my thoughts in journals and live a pretty fascinating life, at least I'm told, and I like the idea of giving readers an idea of my every-day life! It's rarely boring!

You might wonder about the whole "panty" thing - I just ♥love♥ them! It's so fun to window shop at fancy lingerie stores and buying (affordable) panties is such a thrill! And, of course, the wearing aspect isn't too shabby, either!

Since I wear panties all the time anyway, I recently started selling them on the internet, which is quite an adventure in itself! I also enjoy taking photos with my roommate, Amaya. She's a photography major and I'm learning a lot from her - I'm hoping to get a tripod soon and start practicing myself! Here's another of her photos...

I try to capture a vintage-look in my photos...sort of like a 50's pin-up -

Sadly, selling panties doesn't exactly pay the rent (which is, as of yet, unpaid!) and I also work in a gallery part-time. Finding work as an artist is TOUGH - even with the degree! I end up cobbling together odd-jobs here and there to get by - I guess I really am a "starving artist!" But it's certainly worth it...and don't worry! I get bored with hearing about financial woes, too!

That's about it, for now! I've got to get to work designing my blog! I want it to look as cool as possible with all sorts of features! Looks like I finally found a use for that art school degree! Ha! I'll end with one of my favorite paintings - this is by Walton Ford and it's stunning!
